In high season dinner is served in the Grand Béal room from 7 p.m.
This is a magnificent restaurant with a fireplace and large bay windows, with an early 20th century atmosphere and an old-style charm that Agatha Christie could have used as the setting for a marvellous novel.
Reserved only for our hotel guests as a guarantee of calm and serenity.
Our home-made cuisine brings together Alpine specialities such as Tartiflette, Jailles de porc au miel (pork sweetbread in honey), leg of Durance lamb with salt potatoes, Ballotin de volaille au reblochon (boneless stuffed poultry with reblochon cheese) and the more hearty but traditional dishes such as the Terrine de brochet au beurre d’épices (pike terrine in butter spices), Civet de canard aux pruneaux (duck stew in prunes), braised ham in Madeira and veal breast stuffed with morel mushrooms…
At the Ailefroide Chalet hotel we work as much as possible with organic produce from local and responsible agriculture: fresh produce from the region blending tastes and aromas.
Of course, you can adapt the menu to your wishes every day.
On request, we can serve you a Raclette or a fondue!
“A béal is a narrow channel. In other words, it is a little stream that irrigates the land. This is a regional term, and is not used all over France. Ailefroide is a natural, authentic site, well known to fans of mountaineering, nestling among the larch trees at the foot of the Barre des Ecrins, of Mont Pelvoux and the Glacier Blanc.”
